Back from 1st film shoot
The last 10 days were really hectic as we finally started our shoot for the BBC documentary. We spent a day in Mysore and the rest in Bandipur, waiting at the waterholes for the animals to turn up mostly. Wildlife film making is atleast 20 times tougher than photography. The sound needs to be there, everything on heavy tripods, cannot hand carry the cameras and lenses and one always needs a crew. Working from 4:30am till midnight did not make it any easier.
Alphonse Roy (Probabilty India’s best wildlife film maker) and Harry Marshall (Our producer and director from Icon films) were there at this first shoot to get things in order. For me, learning cinematography from alphone was something else. I still have a long way to go to learn the art of fine film making, but as always the learning is fun.
We’ve had an amazing but very scary bear encounter on foot and some close escapes with the elephants. Will write about it in another post.
Enjoy Maadi
Nothing can stop you now!! Go Go its seldom one gets these kinds of opportunities in India. Exploit it, attack it and come out victoriously.
Cant wait to see the video. But I am guessing it wouldnt be done soon. rite ?
Do you have small clips/pics etc that you are allowed to share ?

Heh.. except for the last part.. doing small bits of all of them. From driving vehicles to doing the sounds to doing the filming to holding lights to even just carrying the tripod. My friend Sandesh is going to be on screen as part of the documentary..
Yeah it will only hit the TV screens later next year. I’m still in discussing with the BBC to let me use small clips on youtube 🙂
