Joy at the top

Joy

The short trip back to the grasslands was very productive and I was able to trek around a lot easier this time around. I’ve had an amazing sighting of a Jungle cat and wild dogs with pups. I’ll try to process those pics as soon as I find time. Meanwhile, I’ve uploaded the last trips photos onto my gallery.

The person in the above photograph is Kapilan who is one of the main forest guards over there. He’s standing at the edge of Kerala and Tamil Nadu starts down the vallery from where he is standing. Infact most of the hills you see in front of him is Valparai and Anamalais. The walk till this place was back breaking but was very good. I asked him to show me how happy he was to be over there.

Before everyone spams me, here‘s the wallpaper version of the photograph.

    true that.
few theories that were sent my way today.
the first one was for a mountain range in australia and was extrapolated onto nilgiri
    >bluish tinge the range takes on when viewed at a distance, which is caused by the release >of volatile oils from eucalyptus forests

    >Several sources cite the reason as the smoky haze enveloping the area, while other sources >say it is because of the kurunji flower, which blooms every twelve years giving the slopes >a bluish tinge.

    Subliminal Messages

I noticed that as soon as there is a picture with _you_ in it (assuming that is you over the hill ;), there is magically a wallpaper sized version for everyone to have kallu on their desktop 😀

Breath taking photo though. Did you have to wait a long time for the clouds to form like that?

    neela kurinjikal

Isnt it because of the blue-kurinji flowers blooming once in 13 yrs that the range got that name? I always thought so…
