Off to Eravikulam
Starting tomorrow, I’m off again to Eravikulam National Park. This time however, I’m going into the core area with all the gear and I will mostly be there for about 10 days at least.
There is one small issue though. I’m staying in an old hut which is at least 18km from the nearest human contact. No roads, no power, no connectivity. The hut is at least few hours trek through tough terrain to get to. So I’m hiring some 10 porters to carry all the gear and few weeks worth of supplies along. Taking a custom rigged solar charger.. so hopefully I should be able to charge my batteries.
This will be the longest time I will be away from everything and will be in total isolation for all those days. If time and my body permits, hope to climb Anai Mudi, which is the tallest peak in South India.
See ya all in early march.
All the best dude — apart from being thrilling — it sounds scary too considering the fact that you dont know what animals/creatures are there in that region ….
Hope you get to climb Annai Mudi
(sent you mail reg DVDs)
Good luck dude! I’m sure the whole trip will be worth it… Will be waiting for you to get back and post (both photos and updates)… Again, have a great time! 🙂
Hmm…that’s what you always wanted to do at BR Hills and now you are doing it at Ervikulam! But I know it is going to be a great experience…and I look forward to all the photographs…I must say, the image of Massa Sahib with the ten porters tickles me a lot!
Do take some anti-insect cream along…a lot of us suffered from heavy tick-bites…I am still taking out ticks from under KM’s skin…it won’t be fun to be alone out there and itching all over with the ticks burrowing further into your skin. At least in this dry season you may not have to worry about leeches..or am I wrong?
I hope you ARE able to climb Anaimudi, but do take good care of yourself, it is a matter of concern that you will be alone without a way to communicate….OK,sorry to sound like a mother hen?
that means lots of leech stories commin up 😉
Good Luck and have a safe trip.
All the best once again!
Safe journey n’ Happy shooting(Only with camera. k?)!
No leeches in this season 🙂
Swalpa late on the DVDs. I shall pick it up from him as soon as I get back.
I’ve had some really bad times with ticks. Luckly there are not many now it seems.. so just keeping my fingers crossed.
kallu mama.. you take care dear.. hope to chat up with you soon…
be safe
good luck and stay safe.

Don’t miss the opportunity to climb up Anai Mudi if you have the permit. It is really a great experience ! I had climbed up this peak in Feb 2003.
