Trip to Honnemarudu
I spent the last 2 days at Honnemarudu, a large water resevoir on Linganmakki back waters close to Sagar, shimoga.
The highlight of the trip was this : We reached there pretty late and somewhere at 8pm, we decided to camp in one of the uninhabited islands. We threw our bags onto a boat and half way through the ride, we decided to jump in the water. The water was warm, there was not a single source of light in sight and the moon had not come in yet. So one could see every star in the sky including the milky way. Because of the life jackets.. we just floated in the water for more than an hour .. just looking at the stars.. it was one helluva experience.
We camped there for the night and got back the next morning. I need to go back there someday and spend few days atleast.
Star gazing while floating man can’t imagine it. Must be a great experience but sounds a little scary for me 🙂
Just to say…, be careful while you are in water… that to in night…
I can understand the fear. I was once eaten up by a crocodile. But then its all in the mind.
Yes, and the crocodile spat out the foul tasting sunson 🙂 Shame on you sunson for tormenting poor crocodiles…
Thanks for the pleasing imagery…

wow! It sounds weirdly relaxing to me 🙂
Oops
I will stand 50mts away and enjoy the view 😛
But aren’t we _inside_ the milky way already?
the question is “who put us here and why” :p
Its a very beautiful place

Yes – had done that once in last summer (few days before coming to India) in Lake Superior (but no life jackets 🙁 )
Honnemaradu was on list of places I wanted to see and I can’t believe I actually missed it – given that I was in Jog Falls and also in Sagar. Guess, have to put it on my next trip’s list 🙂
any new photos??
