Jumping Ant’s assasination
These ants are called the jumping ants because they really jump in the air when they need to escape or when they need to catch prey. They are a very large size ants and can give a nasty bite to humans. Another interesting thing about this ant is that unlike regular ants, these use large objects around them like tree’s, houses etc for navigation. The ant is even known to follow direction based on the position of the sun.
This shot is my best macro shot till date and I managed to get it just at the right time. Look closely and you will notice that the ant at the bottom is about to give a deadly sting to the one at the top right at it’s weak point. The ant on the top died 5 min after I shot this image.

Well, since the ant-on-top 🙂 died in 5 mins, its either a sting or a mating behaviour ala black widow.

Great details too. So far, I could only think of an ant getting crumpled *sad* under something. I can never imagine an ant, so deadly.

For any decent macro shot, you will need good light. I used an external powerful and diffused flashlight for this picture.
I used a 105mm macro lens at f/14, 1/1000

I would suggest adding a copyright notice to your snaps. Something like
a Creative Commons license.
It will allow more distribution and credits to your photography.

I’m glad I looked through your blog and found this photo. It’s fantastic! I’ve never seen these jumping ants, but I’m the kind of person who can drift off into my imagination while watching colonies of insects. I often scooped up parts of ant-beds into a jar when I was a child so that I could sit and watch them dig tunnels and see if they would produce a replacement queen.
