Google Suggest

When it comes to innovation and trying out new hacks, google rocks.

If you are a Unix user, you are just going to love the new Google Suggest feature. Auto-completion of search keywords 🙂

Yahoo and MSN are finally catching up on desktop search and I presume after today, they will start working on the Auto-completion feature and roll it out after couple of months.

David, you really should signup for a LJ account. It would make your life a lot easier and you will get a mail, each time there’s a followup on your comment.

The google service sure is fast. I would like to see someday how they get this kinda horsepower out of their machines. I am pretty sure they are usuing 64-bit machines and all this data is from inmemory.

And in case you want to build something similar for your applications using php and do not want to mess with xmlhttprequest object directly take a look at http://jpspan.sf.net It allows you to call your remote php classes (thier methods actually) via javascript.

In fact you can have a complete gmail like app using jpspan and php
