Critical Mass

These days my friends page has gotten so huge, I hardly seem to find time go though all the journal entries. Its that time of the year, when I go and strip down my friends list. ( Do other people face this problem? )

One important feature that LJ does not support is a way to add a person as you friend, but skip his entries in your friends page and a way to add a person’s feed to your journal without friending him.

Well, they do, actaully. Be not so quick to say something isn’t supported. RTFM!

create a friends group of all the blogs you actually want to read – call it ‘luzrs’ for eg.

Then you’d access that group as http://www.livejournal.com/~kalyan/friends/luzrs

Thats all. And whenever you add a new friend, add them to this group as well if you want to follow them.

I do this with my comics feeds (http://www.livejournal.com/~khorgath/comics)

Check the section that talks about “Default View”. You add friends whose entries you want to follow to this group, and everyone else to other groups. When you look at your friends page, you will see only those that are in the Default View group – to see the others, you got to the friends/group page.

Create a “readable” group with only the friends whose entries you want to read, then go to this page

and tick on that group as default view. Then you can read only those people’s whose posts make sense ;-)…. I’m doing that this time.
