Firefox Bus

While coming from Mysore, we suddenly saw a big Firefox logo pasted on a bus. We stopped the car and and stopped the bus which was about to leave and took these photographs. I wonder if the artist knew where the logo came from 🙂

This is the big logo behind the bus

I like the way they have put the fox and the globe around the wheel.

Few more pictures

    Re: the 3rd world

There is a big difference between India and Ethiopia!

I live in Thailand and there is a huge craze here for airbrushing tour buses – everything from Nemo to Ragnarok leaves the Khao San Road area every day bound for all the backpacker areas of Thailand. I’ve never been to India, but I would tend to believe that there are enough people with money there to afford the same sort of thing – it tends to be a polarized country with hundreds of millions of dirt poor, a few fabulously wealthy and an emerging middle class – no?

    amazing..

reality is, I agree, as one perceives it…but to say that something is not real when two photographers have snapped it is…unreal!

I am just amazed by the storm this has created..!Haven’t we all seen the Disney and other logos painted randomly on trucks? All those who haven’t, need to take a few road trips in India.

Edges can be crisp in printing… thats why its expensive, if you get the job done right it looks like the .jpg, but just huge… and on a bus.

    Bus

From the Registration number it looks like its a Bangalore Registered ( KA-51). Most of these buses are built in Karoor and paint job also gets completed there. This is from my basic knowledge of transport industry.

    Yahoo! Bus

I’ve seen something quite similar here in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Where there was a Dala-Dala (local busses) with the Yahoo! logo on the back of the car. Wonder if the guys accross the pond knows about this 🙂

The original scalable version is not hard to find.

It’ll render at a smallish size in Firefox itself, so here it is loaded into an SVG editor.

I cant believe Mozilla Org would steal a logo from a bus company in India.

    Re: the 3rd world

that’s the stupidest -ish i’ve heard in a while. my people are from kenya and they do this stuff all the time. a matatu (bus/taxi exactly like the one in that pic) had a MINNESOTA LICENSE PLATE painted on it because my uncle shipped his car there and kept the plates. someone saw them as he was driving around town one day, noted that it was different and might make their taxi standout (so as to attract passengers) and painted their bus like a frikkin license plate.

check ur self about calling anywhere 3rd world too u moron.

to be honest u sound naive, u sound like u think ur cool and enlightened cause u went to africa. save ur words next time.

    it’s a good paint job.

One way to tell it’s real is due to the reflections in this one http://pics.livejournal.com/kalyan/pic/00005259
wouldn’t of been worth the effort.

Whoever painted it has good can control, and a nice fading technique. Nice to see firefox in the graffiti form. Planning on doing a few pieces using the logo myself.

    Pure Photoshop

Unless someone can tell me how you end up with ladder shadows on the windows but none on the paint, IMO it is clearly Photoshop. Also, magnified in Photoshop there are tell-tales like perfectly straight lines that would not be perfect on a real bus. Nice job though.

    shadows?

Am I the only one to wonder where the ladder-shadows went?
-the ladder is obviously closer to the bus side then to the glass windows themself
but still I belive there should be atleast a slight shadow on the bus-sides to?

Some idiots (must be americans) seem to think that the buss pictures are retouched in Photoshop. That’s so lame. This is a normal thing in Asia. I’ve seen bussesn in Thailand with the most amaizing airbrush paintings, and THAT every day.
