Firefox Bus

While coming from Mysore, we suddenly saw a big Firefox logo pasted on a bus. We stopped the car and and stopped the bus which was about to leave and took these photographs. I wonder if the artist knew where the logo came from 🙂

This is the big logo behind the bus

I like the way they have put the fox and the globe around the wheel.

Few more pictures

I think there’s a drawback to reply-to-reply… This promotes discussion, which inevitably degrades into the ever-popular “arguing on the internet” routine. Digg (somewhat) keeps that from happening, which i find refreshing.

actually, no, the logo for firefox was created by Jon Hicks (www.hicksdesign.co.uk) for the Mozilla Foundation. He also created the Thunderbird logo.

ummm… maybe the real question is WHY would someone photoshop this? I’m sure it’s real (of course, I also saw the link to the other pictures of the bus already)

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

It’s not photoshopped. If it was done by photoshop, the corners on the logo would most likely be sharper than the rest of the photograph. If you zoom in until you can see the seperate pixels, you can tell that they’re just as sharp as everything else.
And, you can tell that the normal details are still there as they normally would be.
Furthermore, the Firefox logo is actually slightly different than the logo portrayed on the back end of the bus. To create all that on photoshop would be quite difficult.

At the rear of the bus it would be bright because the vynal color. And the lack of mud and dirt could be, as was already pointed out, that it was newly washed, or the vynal could be new. Or both.

Do you really think someone could create the subtle lighting differences, and intracate shapes of the bars surrounding the bus on photoshop?

“Do you really think someone could create the subtle lighting differences, and intracate shapes of the bars surrounding the bus on photoshop?”

it is absolutely possible but not likely in this instance. it would take far too much time to fake an image to this degree. as an experienced designer (10+ years) i would say that i am 95% positive that the picture is authentic.

I am a hot air balloonist. Last year a major transport company in the US purchased two vehicles for their balloons. The entire “bus” is covered in landscape art with the balloons in flight. This process was done by taking several digital photographs and then printing them to a sticky back vinyl. Then its just stuck to the side of the vehicle. I just checked the website and the pictures of the bus have been removed but there is one picture where you can just bearly see the bus.

    the 3rd world

Yea, so just coming back from ethiopia, another third world. I know these images are fake. There are no ifs ands or buts, fake. First of all nothing is freshly painted, its going to look just like the soviet era bus that it is, with maybe a crappy splash of paint on it. Secondly Everything is coated in dirt as most of the roads in 3rd world are not paved. Lastly and more importantly, there is no way in hell a bus driver in the 3rd world would stop so people can take pictures. They would curse at you in another language for being white & naive.

Granted that sounds bad about 3rd world. But seriously it was the best experience of my life. I am just saying this is the biggest BS ever.
