Firefox Bus

While coming from Mysore, we suddenly saw a big Firefox logo pasted on a bus. We stopped the car and and stopped the bus which was about to leave and took these photographs. I wonder if the artist knew where the logo came from 🙂

This is the big logo behind the bus

I like the way they have put the fox and the globe around the wheel.

Few more pictures

    Slashdot is CRAP

Slashdot is crap, it’s the same whiny people people posting the same whiny comments for every new article. Digg.com is where it’s at. You have been dugg! 🙂

    Authenticor photoshopped?

The paint job looks too good to be authentic. Corners are too clean and way too sharp. SMR logo is a nice touch but I think this is photoshopped.

    Re: Slashdot is CRAP

The difference between slashdot.org and digg.com is that slashdot is full of whiney trolly posters who don’t necessarily know much about the subject they’re posting on, and digg.com is worse.

Digg was awesome last year, now it seems to have dragged in a mess of moronic posters who have less of a clue than the worst slashdot could drag out.

Digg has no meaningful moderation system. Take an arbitrary article posted on both and compare the digg comments at (+?) to the slashdot comments at +5 after a few hours. You’ll see which site has more clueful users. Seriously, try it.

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

definately photoshopped. you can see the light is wrong on the far end of the bus where it overlaps with the doorway and also in the shot of the back of the bus the bottom part is far too bright, it should be covered in mud and be duller.

Maybe the photoshopper should have used GIMP :>

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

The EXIF tags are still intact. Whilst this doesn’t strictly mean that it’s not a photoshop, as they’re very easy to spoof, it inclines me to believe it’s probably real. Most Photoshops will be images imported into a PSF, which is then worked on. To be honest, you’re never going to know whether or not it’s real, so just say it is, be happy and spread it around.

Oh, and to the little babies fighting over Digg and Slashdot – both are news and information sites. Take what you want and move on. None are superior or inferior. This Gen Web2.0. All the information you can process, must be had.
Never heard of RSS, have ya?

Look at the rear of the bus, below the coat of arms, it says “Simce 1952”, so unless firefox was around since EDSAC’s OXO, it looks like firefox be doing the pilfering 😉

heh. the origin of the firefox logo?

  33. osbjmg · April 18, 2006 Reply

So yea, this is dugg because it encourages ADD behavior. Slashdot would not mention this because it would get moderated due to a lack of actual content. A slashdot story that consists of a couple of pictures? No.

  34. osbjmg · April 18, 2006 Reply

Web Gen2.0? Please don’t spew garbage like that anymore, you don’t sound pompous enough.

  35. omicron32 · April 18, 2006 Reply

RSS sucks. I find no use for it at all when I can just open all the sites in tabs at the start of my browsing session.

Makes things much eaiser and nicer.

@osbjmg: I’m sick of hearing about Web2.0 as well. (Oooh, AJAX, rounded corners and pastel colours = Web 2.0)

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

There is nothing wrong with the lighting in my opinion. And the fact that there is no mud would be cos someone washed the bus.

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

Rubbish. You see paint jobs like that all the time. It _could_ be photoshopped, but I doubt it, easier to just paint the bus. (Has western cultural ability slid so far backwards that such a paint job is impressive to you? Too much I”P” and not enough I…)

    Re: Drew

I doubt that paintwork has been on that bus since ’52.

Believe me, I’ve seen buses in India…

    Re: Drew

Or, the coat of arms (or whatever) and date of establishment belongs to the organisation that owns /operates the bus, and after the bus was given it’s new look, they must have painted it on as the mark of the owner.

Its like how they give new designs to airplanes, and then add the airline logo.

    Hey Kalyan,

so how can you disprove the below comments. Did you use GIMP or photoshop or is this real?

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

Definitely NOT Photoshopped. Look at the reflection in the Earth on the side of the bus.

    Re: MOD PARENT UP

Do you mean that’s the problem with Slashdot, or the that’s the problem with Digg? Slashdot has its problems, but Digg’s are far worse. Digg’s problems can be enumerated as follows:

    1) users can moderate replies to their own comments. Slashdot got this right.

    2) moderation is applied without adjectives (offtopic, funny, troll, informative, etc.) Slashdot got this right.

    3) users can reply to replies. Digg limits nesting of replies which complicates everything unnecessarily. Slashdot got this right.

    Should I go on?

    Re: Authenticor photoshopped?

Now you make me look at that it’s prove it was photoshopped. Look at the reflection, it is the negative of the reflection that should be there. it’s light where the shadow is and is dark where the lighter dirt is, behind the door at the front.

Some good pixel work I’ll say but there’s always a mistake somewhere that shows it could not of been real.

    Re: ladders?

Yes. Mostly to put luggage on top, unless the bus is really crammed, in which case the roof becomes a better ventilated travel alternative for passengers.

They do that on some trains too. Been there, done that.
