So many things, so little time

I just got my first major photo assignment.

The assignment is to shoot fashion shows etc on few cruises in Miami. I get to spend time in the cruse , all expenses taken care and a good pay check. Th only hitch is that, this is a 8 month long assignment. *Sigh*

Looks like I will have to pass 🙁

Getting an 8 month long H1-B or whatever else that lets you work on such a job in the USA will be non-trivially complicated. Infact, from my basic knowledge of your background/situation, chances are high you won’t be admitted into the USA on any visa anyway, so there’s not much to regret about.

    Oh, the joy … not!

I know that *expenses taken care* and *good pay check* should not be a consideration for you but *8 months* and *major photo assignment* should be the deciding factors of what you go ahead with. Wish you the best in any case.

Keeping secret? let it out now!

  19. ravi · February 11, 2005 Reply

Um, what makes you think the INS/BCIS would give him an H1 in the first place?

  20. sunson · February 11, 2005 Reply

I wonder if you would have decided to “pass” if you got this offer after, say, 9+ months of your current wildlife activity. 🙂

Isn’t your wildlife activity something you can stop / resume whenever you wanted to?

I doubt if people working on cruise shups are on american work visas… the ships are mostly registered in some tiny tax friendly island in the caribbean… so that’ll probably where you’ll get your salary from … and as long as you are working on the ship you don’t need a “work” permit for the country where the ship docks.

Things are not what they seem…

When something appears immediately attractive, you have to think things out to see the hidden catches…and the reverse is also true…so think things over and make your decision….and let us know what you decide!

  36. harshar · February 12, 2005 Reply

Kalyan, You don’t even have to take me.
I’ll join up with you in Miami, as your assistant. 😀

    THATS TERRIBLE!

8 months on a stupid big cruise ship in the middle of the ocean wheres theres nothing but sea? Thats way too long. Imagine the number of trips you could do from home to mg rd and back within that time? Why have your expenses be taken care of when you can SPEND all your money and feel good about it too!
Its an anal proposition. A complete waste of your time.
