No work, All play

After debating for 2 months, I finally made up my mind and bought the Nikon D70 DSLR. Costed me a bomb and yes I’m totally broke now. So here I come.. into the brave new world of SLR’s.

The camera rocks.. it has best of both digital and film worlds. I currently have the 18-70mm ( 35mm eq of 28-105mm) lens. I cannot spent anymore on the lens currently.. will prob do it next year. Will post some pics soon.

In other news, khorgath decided to buy my old camera.

How exactly is it the “best of both digital and film worlds” ?

    Congrats.

Oh my God, this is expensive.

I’m prob saying that coz the camera is an SLR. When you click a pic it feels exactly like a film click ( the sound, the speed, the response etc), the lens is controlled manually ( usually in digital world, the zoom is controlled by a button) and few other factors like the view etc.. cannot pin-point.. but you get the idea.

Is learning photography same as learning programming ? . I am exploring the option of practising it. Does anyone have ptrs for a typical newbie like me?

Get a camera (any) start clicking!! Once you are comfortable with the basics take a look at sites like http://worth1000.com and http://dpchallenge.com which force you to take pictures on a particular theme, an equally important part is learning to verbalise what you (dis)like in a picture, sites like above provide ample opportunity in terms of leaving your comments on the pictures. Lastly give yourself tme 😀

    Congrats!

I finally made up my mind and bought the Nikon D70 DSLR.

Having seen the work you have already done with the Coolpix, I am positive the investment will not got to a waste.

Congratulations on the new arrival. 😉
