Treating myself after a long time

I made my first $1000 online purchase from Amazon this morning. Finally settled for the Nikon CoolPix 5700 instead of the Canon EOS 300D. Since I can’t ship it to India, I shipped it to Jeremy‘s () place. He agreed to get it for me under the condition that I let him use it while he is in India :p

And now for the tough path : the 3 week wait

    Whoa! Nice cam!

Btw, is there any limit on the amount of the dollars you can spend annually or something?

Yeah, I know India is flush with funds, but there must be *some* limit beyond which you get duties/inquiries/blah.

Basic Travel Quota is USD 5000, IIRC. Anything more needs a permit.

Also, imports of Rs. 10,000 or less brought as part of personal baggage have no customs duty.

But that is per trip, right? How does it work when, say, using your credit card to buy stuff?
