Early morning long-exposure photography

Was going home this morning at 5am ,with my new tripod and my friends (sagarika, thanks for letting me borrow it) new Canon S400 camera. Could not resist the dark patch on airport-kormangala road. Here’s the outcome with the long-exposure photographs I took this morning

Nice pictures! Bangalore has some amazing roads. It’s a pity they’re far too crowded these days.

    Kallu!!!…u ROCK !!!

    ur snaps are fabulous!!!

see, so now u know that there is so much to a camera than taking pictures of babes as rvce ( as i did today at 8th Mile , RVCE 🙂 )

although i dont know much about photography, i keep trying my stunts. i screwed up all the snaps at mrinal’s yavanika cryptic show, by not using flash. I wanted to keep the images “natural”, but
never realised a) the time lag in processing in digital cameras b) that fact that i didnt have a stand! 🙁 as a result although the snaps look majorly aesthetic to me ( which for obvious reasons mrinal never understands), they are kinda all blurred !!

It was a citi bus which passed by. It had 2 lights on either side at the top-back of the bus and those are the 2 streaks 🙂

yep. I learned it the hard way too. I HATE flash and try to avoid it as much as possible though people insist. I just love pics with non-flash mode.

But yeah it comes at a price. Thats the primary reason I got the Tripod. Also till date I used to manage by keeping the cam on a chair/car/wall for the stability. It usually comes out pretty decent

Wait till I get my Nikon 5700. S400 will be a toy in front of it 🙂

Lovely pictures dude! I myself hate the flash too but since I lack a tripod, I find it hard to take pictures which are not blurred!

Bangalore’s roads are neat, I must say!

I plan to take some good pictures of Hyderabad/Chennai/Bombay when I visit India this Dec./Jan.

    Amazing!! – tictactoe10

You seem to display artistic side or yours by capturing the early morning gleam and glitter. Good Work!! 🙂

Darn! no one is happy with anything.Hmmph!
Don’t you like the hyderabad road in the ‘peak hours’ . I think its lovely.

Man! I’m sure you must have scared some lonely footpath snoozers. Getting a tripod out on the main road at 5 in the morning??! Actually the time would be the most sanest part in the above.

hehe yeah I love the hyderabad road (outer ring road). My next tripod adda is gonna be that 😉

    Re: Tripod?

Yep. Got the tripod last week for 2.5k here.

The pictures were taken with ISO speed 50, Auto aperture ( the camera does not let me manually do it, will dig out the exact values from the exif info ), Shutter speed of 6 sec. I used 4 sec exposure for the brightly lit photos. I should have used the grey filter that came with the cam. But only realised it after I took the pictures.

    Tripod?

How much would a ‘really-cheap’ tripod cost? I have a Nikon COOLPIX 2000…

I love photographing my city. Will try putting up some pics soon…

    Re: Tripod?

CP 2000 is pretty light one. I have seen ones that are as low as 1200. They are pretty decent. The reason I went for expensive ones is coz

    1. I needed a tripod which could take heavy/bulky cameras
    2. I needed something that came upto my eye (I am 6 feet )

    neat snaps kull
and the one with the streaks so reminds me of the opening shots of “boys dont cry”
really cool stuff that you did with those snaps especially the ‘streaky’ ones
