Goddamnit VSNL

To fight the effects of the nachi worm ( the worm that was created to fix the Blaster worm ), VSNL ( India’s largest ISP, which also controls the India’s international gateway) completely disabled ICMP on its routers. So no more ping from outside world coming into India.

*sigh*

Wow, its weird to notice your LJ move from a desi-audience targeting LJ to a non-desi audience targeting LJ. Not in a bad sense …

Hate it, but after looking at my stats it turns out

    50% of traffic is non-desi.
    40% LJ friends
    10% desi non-LJ traffic.

Anyway not making my blog non-desi, but just trying to make it easy for everyone to understand

Nothing genius about that. A lot of ISP’s in the US did the same on their edge routers. Our office link was tossing up and down on that day and it was not funny to get portscanned 10 times every minute.

Yep, I later realised that what they did was probably the best in the given scenario. Though as a major ISP of the country you dont block the basics
