2002

This is my 1st year out of college…
I miss college a lot.. but I still manage to have the college fun here and there. Most of my close friends have left bangalore for higher studies.. and many more are leaving soon.. makes me wonder, why I’m sitting all alone here in blr and working. but heck.. I am enjoying what I’m doing.

This is also the year, where I moved from being a sysadmin to a developer. Since my college days.. I’ve always been a sysadmin.. and the last bit of programming that I had done was in my 1st year of college. after 5 months at Yahoo!, I was given a choice to move to a developer job. I had enough with sysadmin stuff, so I took it up. Its been a great ride… I practically started out with “Hello World” in c/c++/perl. Two people who really helped me thoughout were and . Thanks a ton guys. These were the guys to whom I could go to and ask any dumb question .. and they would give me an answer. sush practically taught me perl/sql etc from scratch.

My review happend couple of weeks ago and it came out really really well. I did not expect my review to be that good honestly. Got a pay hike and lot more stocks in Yahoo!. Tough expectations have been put on me for the coming year.. lets hope I finish them.

Security work was something that I had always dreamed of working on. Now here I am working on what I always wanted. I gained people’s trust over the months.. and Now I can stand and talk , and people do listen.
Not just within the company.. but outside too.

My work schedule has totally shifted now. I come in after lunch and stay back late. I dont remember the last time I went home early. This whole thing meant less and less time for other things like the
Linux meets / IPv6 form etc. I wish I had more time for them. I intend to get back to them this year though.
