Just watched Shawshank Redemption for the 10th time, and I still love it.

One of my fav quotes from the movie :

“I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I’d like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can’t expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was as if some beautiful bird had flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.” — Red

Yeah, that is some serious good shit. King is amazing as always, but I always felt that his writing has a special richness in a few of his books. Stand, It, Dolores Claiborne, Rose Madder and of course Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. Mind you these are not all his best books, but just the ones in which his writing id outstanding. My favourite lines in the movie are the last few in the movie…they way it ends.

I hope Andy is down there.

I hope I can make it across the border.

I hope to see my friend and shake his hand.

I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams.

    I hope.

As book-endings go, those lines kick ass.

Hey who is that in the userpic?

TRUTH. especially the way the movie leads towards the end with Red having thoughts of turning *criminal* again, the way he travels south, finds that letter…and moves towards the hope. Moi cried just watching him walk down the beach to his *friend*.
