A large number of crabs are also found in mangroves which survive
by eating the fallen leaves of mangrove tree species. Digested by crabs, they enter back into the organic cycle as excreted
detritus. These crabs are highly cannibalistic in
nature and when another crab undergoes moult,
the hard shelled ones attack the moulting
crabs and devour them. The females can give birth to one million
offsprings at a time.
