sambar is our largest 
deer. Sambar are found 
in most of the deciduous 
forests in the state. They 
are usually found in 
small family herds, 
preferring dense forests 
with grassy openings. 
They eat browse and 
grass and are mostly 
crepuscular, being active 
around dusk and dawn
