Since I am moving to a new project, I thought I’d take this week off, chill out and do nothing at home as I have quite a bunch of holidays left over this year. I’m an hour into my 1st day of ‘vacation’ and I’m already bored. Sigh. Twice this week, I have used ‘goto’ because any other way would mean loads of code just to jump the control from one point of my program to another point in a big mess of nested loops. Traditionally while we were learning programming, everyone taught us GOTO and they have also advised us against it. But why ? I know the code becomes slightly unreadable, but anything beyond that ? Recently Madhu invited me to do a photo shoot at his restaurant, and take pics of his delicious dishes. Shooting food is really hard, or maybe it was because I was shooting in the kitchen and the customers were waiting. After spending couple of hours in the kitchen I managed to get few decent shots and got to know a lot about running a restaurant. On Saturday, August 14th, my Nikon F80 camera and my Zoom lens, were stolen from my car. Of course, I’m a moron and didn’t have any insurance, so my loss isn’t covered. So I’ve started this fundraiser to try to recover some costs. I’ve done the math, and I figure I lost about 30,000 Rupees ($600) in equipment if I were to buy it all new again. After whole day of running around the cops, managed to get hold of the CSI team of Bangalore police yesterday evening. They are in pretty sad state… there is only one CSI team and they have 2 people who knows how to get fingerprints from a crime scene and each one of them take 24 hour long non-stop shifts. Some fucker broke into my car last night (and my dad’s) and got away with my new Nikon F80 camera with lens and my dad’s stereo system. I came home at 3am and slept at 4am, so this guy made his move between 4 -5am and I’m pretty sure he knew there was my camera in the car under the seat.( I know its damn stupid of me to leave it in the car ). Traveled to Ranganathittu and Mysore zoo last sunday along with my newly armed film camera. I shot my first 2 rolls of slide film and I am pretty happy with the results. The development and scanning costed me a bomb and the pictures are slightly underexposed and the contrast was too high ( this was due to the slide film I shot with ). Sometimes I wish I had formal Computer Science background instead of Mechanical engineering. There are some things which you only learn in college course, which you’d never go out of your way to learn/master. Maybe its not too late yet.

Few folks in office decided to challenge me for karting and hence 6 of us went back to speedzone and had a proper race with prelims and finals. I managed to beat everyone again (including yathin) with the same 61 sec best lap. If you race there the next time, pick the kart No 6. I think thats the fastest one out there.
