I made my first $1000 online purchase from Amazon this morning. Finally settled for the Nikon CoolPix 5700 instead of the Canon EOS 300D. Since I can’t ship it to India, I shipped it to Jeremy‘s () place. He agreed to get it for me under the condition that I let him use it while he is in India :p And now for the tough path : the 3 week wait
Went to watch the Aussie vs India cricket match today(along with 45 others at work wearing a “Do you Yahoo?” and “go India” shirt). Well.. what can I say ? though India lost, had amazing fun. After waiting for 3 months, today I finally nuked the hard disk on my laptop and installed Linux. It was not too much pain, though am sitting and doing all the drivers and windows updates right now. Fedura so far looks good. I am using linux after almost a year ( have a machine with RH8 at home doing nothing) . Lately I’ve been only on FreeBSD and windows. But fedura does not have all my fav stuff : windowmaker, pine , rxvt 🙁 Oh well. update (2:51am): windows update still going on.. looks like it will take all night
khorgath and gromhellscream managed to get tickets for tomorrow’s Matrix revolutions 1st day 1st show at the Multiplex. Finally this time I don’t have to stay away from all the blogs where matrix theories were discussed last time around.( Apparently this is the 1st time in history, a movie is being simultaneously being released both in the US and India at the same time ) and looks like a lot of LJ’ers are coming there too. *Good Stuff*
I should never try to fix my sleeping cycle. Last night I slept at 12 and thought I’d start my monday early by reaching work before lunch etc. Got up at 10 this morning and I’ve been feeling feverish and drowsy ( feels like I’ve slept only few hours ) since then. Today for the first time ever, I was noticing my perl code was seg faulting and dumping core. Its was a long cycle of events : fetchmail-procmail-perl-mysql-cron-mail and each time I just assumed the perl part was fine and was check everywhere else. Anyway it turns out perl did not crib about deps (DBI) when I installed DBD::mysql , it installed it fine and after that kept on dumping core coz if could not find DBI.
Spent the last few hours playing WarCraft with nandu. Played couple of games continuously after a really long while and it kicks ass. We played 12 games in a row and its 6 – 6 now. Its 5am and none of us have any energy left in us to continue. *sign* Long weekend coming up and I have no clue what I’m gonna do. Any parties/get togethers happening ?
