Pictures from my kabini trip last weekend. I shot 4 rolls of slides, but only 2 rolls came out well and the photo shop place managed to do a horrible job of the scans. Fox News instructed a couple of their reporters to lie in a story about health risks from Bovine Growth Hormone. The reporters refused, and Fox News fired them. The reporters attempted to sue as whistleblowers. Fox’s defence is that they have a First Amendment right to lie, and so weren’t doing anything wrong that would let the reporters qualify as whistleblowers. Today I met two hard-core wildlife photographer’s, M.N JaiKumar and T.N.A. Perumal. T.N.A Perumal is the best wildlife photographer in India and his work spans over 40 years. Very simple down to earth guy and he had great advice to give. He also started shooting using the Nikon D70. He was kind enough to invite me on an expedition that he is doing this week to study flora and fauna near Hampi. Will have to see, as this could mean the end of my weekend vacation plans. Since I am moving to a new project, I thought I’d take this week off, chill out and do nothing at home as I have quite a bunch of holidays left over this year. I’m an hour into my 1st day of ‘vacation’ and I’m already bored. Sigh. Twice this week, I have used ‘goto’ because any other way would mean loads of code just to jump the control from one point of my program to another point in a big mess of nested loops. Traditionally while we were learning programming, everyone taught us GOTO and they have also advised us against it. But why ? I know the code becomes slightly unreadable, but anything beyond that ? Recently Madhu invited me to do a photo shoot at his restaurant, and take pics of his delicious dishes. Shooting food is really hard, or maybe it was because I was shooting in the kitchen and the customers were waiting. After spending couple of hours in the kitchen I managed to get few decent shots and got to know a lot about running a restaurant. On Saturday, August 14th, my Nikon F80 camera and my Zoom lens, were stolen from my car. Of course, I’m a moron and didn’t have any insurance, so my loss isn’t covered. So I’ve started this fundraiser to try to recover some costs. I’ve done the math, and I figure I lost about 30,000 Rupees ($600) in equipment if I were to buy it all new again. After whole day of running around the cops, managed to get hold of the CSI team of Bangalore police yesterday evening. They are in pretty sad state… there is only one CSI team and they have 2 people who knows how to get fingerprints from a crime scene and each one of them take 24 hour long non-stop shifts. After attending to 6 other crime scenes, they came over to my place and got to work. Some fucker broke into my car last night (and my dad’s) and got away with my new Nikon F80 camera with lens and my dad’s stereo system. I came home at 3am and slept at 4am, so this guy made his move between 4 -5am and I’m pretty sure he knew there was my camera in the car under the seat.( I know its damn stupid of me to leave it in the car ).
