It’s that time of the year, when we pack our bags and chase the monsoon that’s about to hit us this week. After last year‘s successful monsoon chase, me and yathin have decided to do it again and this time Vijay Cavale will be with us as well (fus, you will be missed).
This year, we are planning to drive upto Anamalais starting early tomorrow morning and spend 5 days exploring the thick rain forests around the place. I hope to shoot some of the most endangered and endemic species in India over there. The monsoon is expected to hit the place tomorrow or dayafter, so we will be in the thick forest when the rains come in. Now with the first rains all the amphibians will come out from their dens and I hope to catch them with my camera. Vijay Cavale is going there to shoot only one bird – The Wynard laughing thrush. So I hope yathin gives me company in all the treks which are infested with leeches.

the Gaur crossing the road pics….
It is quite tough to try and get your attention on LJ as the minute you post something there are umpteen replies! I just wanted to get your email id so that I could send the pics of the Gaur jumping over the road which Mohan took when we were there. I asked Ajay at JLR but he either didn’t have it or wouldn’t give it…in fact, he has not sent the details of the Naturalist Training Program which I had emailed him and asked for.
Your pictures are just superb. Called Mohan to the laptop to show many of them to him, he was most impressed! We want to come again to BR Hills while you are there and do some night safaris…
