Of all the reasons for creating a podcast, the most likely may be passion and money. According to data from The Podcast Host41% of the surveyed podcasters stated that they had undertaken this project to obtain an additional source of income while 29% stated that they intended to make a living from it.

Unfortunately, only a select few will be able to achieve it, as Ibai Llanos has warned more than once, referring in this case to streamers. It is about having a bit of luck, falling in love and offering quality content. But the reality is that the vast majority of content creators – podcasters, youtubers, streamers – never manage to monetize it.

Rephonic, a company specializing in podcasts, has analyzed its extensive database of more than 2.5 million recorded audio content to find out what is the best way to monetize a podcast and turn it into a regular source of income. Patreon, with which the audience can make donations, seems to be the best option.

According to Rephonic data, it seems that the content that podcast audiences are most interested in is film history. It is a fairly small niche but it gets average donations of $89, figures well above any other category. Humor podcasts, which is the second category with the most donations, receive an average of $37.

The language in which the content is offered will also be important to earn more or less money. The analyzed data of average contributions by patrons according to the language of the podcast shows that content in French receives a little more money: a little over 3 dollars on average.

Italian, English, Spanish and German are very close with almost imperceptible differences. On the other hand, the most stingy seem to be the Portuguese, who do not reach 2 dollars, and the Japanese, who do not even donate a dollar on average.

This is important to keep in mind. As is logical to think, there is a great abundance of content in English, which is why it is the content that most donations usually take. It is not the most generous audience, but it is the most abundant. In this sense, according to data from Rephonic, the average total donations per active podcast by language indicates that content in English earns more money with an average of $11.

On the other hand, non-English language podcasts are very underrepresented on Patreon. The rest of the languages are below average and none make it to $5.

These do not seem like very encouraging figures, but this is where the quality of the content comes in: a podcaster that offers a good product in a language other than English has a great opportunity to stand out from the competition.

The reviews of David Perez “Davicine”:
I hate Christmas

Pilar Fogliati (cuori) stars in the first Italian Christmas series of Netflix, a comedy about a young woman looking for love. After convincing her family that she has a boyfriend, a single nurse embarks on a desperate quest to find a partner before Christmas…and it’s only 24 days away. Directed by CRIC, I hate Christmas is an upbeat Christmas series starring Pilar Fogliati like Gianna, Nicolas Maupas like Davide, Alessio Pratico like Mario, Fiorenza Pieri like Margherita, Marzia Ubaldi like Matilde, Cecilia Bertozzi like Catherine and Giovanni Anzaldo like Nicola, among others. the series premieres Netflix on November 7, 2022.

Better alone than in bad company

In this series of Netflix, Gianna, a single nurse, is pressured to find a boyfriend before Christmas. Gianna’s family is always pushing her to bring a guy home for Christmas Eve dinner, but Gianna has been single for a long time. It’s the pressure of finding someone that makes Gianna hate Christmas, even though she loves Christmas decorations and all the other holiday stuff, including local sweets. Her sister and her friends try their best to find the perfect guy for her, and she even meets several men, but only to be disappointed. The big question is… Will he find love before Christmas Eve Christmas dinner?

I hate Christmas it portrays very well a dark part of Christmas, and that is that these dates are still a reminder of loneliness for many single people who burn with the desire to live as a couple. There are not a few series and films that have shown in one way or another (from comedy to drama, although generally as comedy) being single during Christmas celebrations or even during family gatherings, and that is the case of the protagonist , who only has 24 days to find a boyfriend if she doesn’t want to have to put up with her family’s pitying looks again.

Each episode tells us the countdown to Christmas, that is, the little time Gianna has to find a partner, which makes her become more and more desperate to find her better half. In this way, we accompany her in a marathon dating session with men of all kinds, from young students to fishmongers to millionaires, always with the support of her sisters and friends. The failed dates not only provide the series with extra humor, but also allow the protagonist to find greater support in her environment, and get to know herself and her environment better, uncovering secrets that will change the life of her

A remake adapted to Italian

I hate Christmas is an Italian remake of the Norwegian series Christmas at homefollowing the same scheme and type of presentation of situations as the original, showing how Gianna breaks the fourth wall while narrating her different experiences and feelings according to the dates in her search for a partner in the purest style of the format of Modern Family.

Clearly, the search for a boyfriend and a stable relationship is the central axis of the series, but I hate Christmas it also focuses on Gianna’s family, friends, and sister, while not neglecting her job as a nurse. She sometimes shows more desire to find a man than to find love, and she spends the day judging others when she doesn’t stop making bad decisions, which prevents us from empathizing excessively with this character.

Although the original Norwegian could reflect a Christmas that is more different from the one we live in Spain, this remake is much more similar in regards to the Christmas experiences we experience, from the lights to the portals of Bethlehem, the Christmas markets and the decoration , all this makes us feel closer to this Italian story than the original.

Regarding the cast change, the actress Pilar Fogliati take over from Ida Elise Broch in this Italian remake, and she looks full of life in every scene, drenching each scene with positivity despite not always being in the mood for it. The actress plays her character in a natural way and even brings spontaneity, always being charming, especially in the comedic parts, since she only seems to have problems for the most dramatic parts, although since there are only 6 episodes and they are short, there is not much time for the drama and focus more on the comic part, in which Fogliati it handles itself easily and makes the series more entertaining and convincing, even for how predictable it might seem.

I hate Christmas is another of the many Christmas productions of Netflix in which we again have a young woman desperately trying to find love during these holidays. We find everything that is expected of a Christmas romantic comedy, although we lack a sweeter ending that does not force us to wait for a new season to fully meet the few expectations that we always have with this type of series.

List of ‘I Hate Christmas’ episodes

The Serie I hate Christmas It is made up of 6 episodes of between 29-32 minutes each.

Episode 1. The big Christmas lie

Hitting a moment of weakness during an awkward conversation about being single, Gianna makes up a story to please her nosy family.

Episode 2. Bicycles

Episode 3. You are special

Episode 4. Points of View

Gianna finds herself in the spotlight during the hospital’s chaotic Christmas party, which ends with an unexpected trip home.

Episode 5. The Party’s Over

When she discovers that even Titti seems to have found love, Gianna makes a bad decision that unleashes a whirlwind of emotions.

The 90s and its string of cult series: “Beverly Hills”, “Baywatch”, “Melrose Place”, “Friends”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, ” Sex and the City »… All very different and all very white fictions. The lack of diversity on the small screen was at the time as glaring as it was normalized. We must turn to the genre of family sitcoms to see the experiences of black people represented, with hits like “The Cosby Show” or “La Vie de famille”. It is in this television context that a series made to measure for the talent of a certain Will Smith. The 22-year-old rapper was then known by his stage name, “The Fresh Prince” and for the hip-hop duo he formed with his childhood friend, DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Created by Andy and Susan Borowitz and produced by Quincy Jones, “ The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is based on a pitch à la “Arnold and Willy”. Will Smith plays a fictionalized version of himself, a cool, resourceful African-American young man who grew up in Philadelphia. After an altercation with a gang, his mother sends him to live with his aunt and uncle in the wealthy district of Bel-Air, in Los Angeles. But that, you already know, if you remember the brilliant credits, composed by Quincy Jones and Will Smith, and sung by the latter.

Class defector

Coming from a modest background, Will discovers with the Banks the ease of the upper class, underlined by the presence of Geoffrey Butler (Joseph Marcell), the butler with the replicas of fire. This contrast is supported by Will’s slang language, his iconic streetwear looks (printed shirts, colorful caps, denim overalls…), his passion for hip hop and his propensity for not following the rules. It is the first time that a mainstream series shines the spotlight on a character who represents hip hop culture, destined to become dominant in the following years.

Behind its frenetic pace of up-to-the-minute jokes and bits of comedic bravery like Carlton’s (Alfonso Ribeiro) dance to Tom Jones, Will’s preppy cousin, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” tackled in six seasons, airing between 1990 and 1996 on NBC (she arrived on France 2 from 1992), a large number of social issues, such as racial profiling by the police, sexism, gun control or mixed couples ( Will’s family is shocked when they learn that Janice has a white boyfriend). Black identity and the importance of not invalidating people’s different experiences are central themes of the series. Carlton suffers from not being “black enough” in the eyes of Will, who regularly makes fun of him and even calls him an Oreo (referring to the cookie, black on the outside, white on the inside).

The young man also teases Uncle Phil (James Avery), whom he believes was born rich, but the latter explains to him that he also grew up in poor neighborhoods and is a class defector. “It really pisses me off, I’ve worked really hard to give my family a good life, and suddenly someone tells me there’s a penalty for success. When will we stop doing this to ourselves? Phil asks after his son was kicked out of a black fraternity because he was considered too privileged. Opposite, Will also feels judged, because he does not correspond to the image of the “Black who succeeded”. His personality and class origins make him an easy target, the person to blame whenever something goes wrong.

black masculinities

All the genius of the “Prince of Bel-Air” lies in his ability to go from very funny scenes to moving moments. Fatherhood is one of the series’ key themes: having grown up with an absent father, Will discovers a model of positive fatherhood with Uncle Phil. An authority figure, the latter always communicates with Will or Carlton and is not afraid to show affection. In season 4, Will’s father resurfaces in his life, but abandons him again. In front of Phil, the young man tries to keep control, before exploding in anger (“Why doesn’t he want me?”) Then crying in his arms. In addition to revealing Will Smith’s enormous dramatic potential, this rare scene shows that a black man has the right to express his emotions.

If “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” were on the air these days, it would probably be called a “woke.” Born in the African-American community in the 2000s with the slogan “Stay Woke”, this term is a call to be aware of systemic racism, discrimination and social injustice at work in our societies. More recently, it has been misused by conservatives in the United States (and France), who use it to mock contemporary anti-racist and feminist movements. If “The Prince of Bel-Air” is a time capsule of the 90s in form, its subject remains terribly topical, in particular after the Black Lives Matter movement, launched in 2013 and which denounces systemic racism. We are therefore not really surprised to have seen the development of a reboot of the series, in a dramatic tone. Based on a superb video made by a fan, “Bel-Air” was successfully launched in 2022, on the Peacock platform. Produced by Will Smith and Quincy Jones, it is worn by Jabari Banks in the lead role.

A dazzling career

After “The Prince of Bel Air”, Will Smith is ready to measure up to the big screen and become “Hollywood’s biggest star”, nothing less! The commercial successes of “Bad Boys” in 1995 and “Men in Black” in 1997, two films destined to become franchises, brought him closer to it. The releases of “MIB” and “Wild Wild West” (1999) are accompanied by solo albums which are a hit (“Big Willie Style” and “Willenium”). The end of the 90s belongs to him: his rap made the planet dance with the hits “Gettin’ Jiggy wit It”, “Wild Wild West” or “Just the two of us”. In the 2000s, he confirmed his status as a leading star by carrying more dramatic films such as “Ali” (2001) or “In Search of Happiness” (2006). He also establishes his status as an action movie hero, with the successes of “I am a legend” (2007) or “Hancock” (2008). In the 2010s, the actor continued to alternate dramatic films (“Alone against all”) and action (“Suicide Squad” in 2016, “Bright” in 2017 accompanied by a title, “Get Lit”, where he reformed his duo with Jazzy Jeff).

Will Smith is “black excellence”, a term that originated in the civil rights movement and has become very popular on social networks. In a society plagued by racism and white supremacy, “black excellence” reminds us that black people can shine in any field. One example is Will Smith and his hyped-up family (actress Jada Pinkett Smith and their two children, Jaden and Willow Smith, and Trey Smith from a first marriage). But while the concept of black excellence is intended to be positive, it also comes with an additional pressure, that of always being up to the task and never making mistakes. Will Smith found out the hard way this year.

“I am human, I made a mistake”

Holder of four Grammys, he has never been distinguished by the Golden Globes or the Oscars. 2022 was to be the year of his consecration: his performance in the film “King Richard” (which recounts another trajectory of black excellence, that of the tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams) earned him his first Golden Globe and his first Oscar. But the ceremony does not go as planned. Pissed off by a joke from Chris Rock, who makes fun of Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head when the actress has alopecia (a condition that causes hair loss and affects nearly 50% of black American women), Will Smith goes on the stage and slaps the comedian, in front of a dumbfounded assembly. A few minutes later, he received the Oscar for best actor, burst into tears, and apologized for his gesture.

Commented on ad nauseam on social networks and in the press, the episode of “the slap” provokes various reactions, from celebrities as well as from anonymous people, as well as debates on the limits of humor. The physical violence of Will Smith, unanimously condemned, faces the psychological violence of Chris Rock. The Academy of Oscars banishes the Oscar-winning actor from the ceremony for ten years. His public image as a cool star takes a hit. In the process, his film projects (“Bad Boys 4”, “Fast and Loose” and “Emancipation”) were put on hold.

In video published on July 29, the star returned to his gesture, apologizing once again. “I hate when I let people down. It hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know that I haven’t lived up to the image and the impression that people have of me. I am human. I made a mistake. In 2022, Will Smith was only the fifth black actor in the history of the Oscars, which has 94 editions, to receive the statuette for best actor. The rest of his career will tell us if this crack will be forgiven him in Hollywood. In thirty years, Will Smith has left an indelible mark on the American music and film industry, paving the way for other artists from the world of rap and called to a film career (Queen Latifah, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg or Donald Glover…). And he just reminded us that he is also a human being.

It doesn’t look like we’ll ever get a new episode in the IndianaJones franchise without a long period of development and creative indecision. Following the mixed response of 2008 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the possibility of a fifth installment was left up in the air. Would fans be willing to accept another performance from Harrison Ford, who was already pushing his physical limits? While the latest film apparently suggested that Indy’s son, Mutt Williams (Shia Labeouf), would take over the franchise, that possibility seemed increasingly unlikely due to Labeouf’s comments on the show and the generally negative response to his performance. It worked out for the best with the recent abuse allegations made against the actor.

Against all odds, Indy is back for another adventure next summer with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fatewho swap series director Steven Spielberg for James Mangold, an impressive filmmaker in his own right. The terrific trailer that just debuted certainly got fans excited, as the precedent for Ford’s return to a popular character had already been set. Star Wars: The Force Awakens gave him the chance to play a thought-provoking role in a franchise he helped build; although Ford was one of the main reasons why the star wars The franchise was successful in the first place, the universe continued to open up and allow new storytellers to add their interpretations to the galaxy far, far away.

star wars boasts one of the most expansive fictional universes of any modern popular culture franchise. Following the 1978 release of Spirit’s Eye Shard by Alan Dean Foster, star wars writers were allowed to add new adventures featuring the iconic characters, and Lucasfilm’s first collaboration with Marvel Comics led to the dominance of star wars in the comics industry. Whereas star wars has an inherently large universe, this does not mean that the larger world of IndianaJones should be ignored. Similar to its sci-fi counterpart, the IndianaJones The franchise killed time between installments by sending Indy on new adventures across multiple book series, comic arcs, and games. It’s a fascinating expanded universe that IndianaJones fans should check out during the long wait for dial of fate.

The ‘Indiana Jones’ books gave context to Indy’s story

The star wars The “Legends” universe as we know it today launched in 1991 with Timothy Zahnit is heir to the empirewhich serves as a continuation of the scenario of Return of the Jedi. The IndianaJones the series also returned that year with Indy’s first original pocket adventure, Indiana Jones and the Peril of Delphi. Considering that the possibility of another sequel in the next few years was not out of the question, The peril of Delphi is actually a prequel set in the 1920s. Indy is now just a graduate student, but while studying in Greece, he gets caught up in an archaeological feat that takes a supernatural turn.

It was a great way to start a series of prequel novels; seeing a younger version of Indy gave the writers a chance to play with a character who was less confident and had more time to question his morals. Why does Indy have such respect for history, and why is he willing to risk his life to have ancient relics memorialized in museums? How does he manage to reconcile his career as a teacher with his adventures around the world? This gave the authors plenty of interesting space to explore across twelve novels.

Another thing the novels did just right was ground Indy’s adventures in the context of the story. One of the problems with both cursed temple and Crystal Skull Kingdom is that they sacrificed real historical artifacts for more fantasy or sci-fi scenarios. One of the reasons everyone loves Indy is that he’s a bit of a geek; in the novels, we see Indy’s knowledge of global culture put to good use as he travels the world in search of objects prized by different communities.

‘Indiana Jones’ comics made Indiana an endearing hero

As star warsthe IndianaJones franchise was inspired by george lucas‘ love classic adventure soap operas. The influence of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers on the star wars original trilogy is evident, as is the influence of the classic “tomb hunting” adventure series on IndianaJones. Both of these genres are based on fast-paced adventures where the audience must stay engaged in order to follow the mystery. Unsurprisingly, these qualities work perfectly for the pages of a Marvel comic, especially during the company’s critical time.

Both star wars and IndianaJones had a Marvel series that ran between installments of their respective trilogies; these fun micro-adventures showed off Indy’s exploits between films and resolved some of the lingering questions fans had been wondering about. He even recovers the golden idol which had escaped him in the first moments of The Raiders of the Lost Ark, only to have it ripped off again. These adventures don’t exactly have a lot of depth, but they’re a great showcase for Indy’s unique personality and quirky sense of humor.

When Lucasfilm struck a deal with Dark Horse Comics in the 1990s, the star wars and IndianaJones the comics started to get more ambitious; the star wars series, Dark Empire, introduced the concept of a resurrected Emperor Palpatine nearly three decades before The Rise of Skywalker. The IndianaJones The series also traveled into darker territory, as Indy had to deal with the effects of World War II. Whereas The Last Crusade had ended before the involvement of the United States in the war effort, we now saw Indy trying to have an affinity for history and education in a time of bloodshed and destruction.

Indy’s spirit amid these darker storylines proved why he’s such an endearing hero. Despite the cynicism he seems to imbue, Indy has a deep faith in human achievement because he has seen the wonderful things that great minds can build. The Black Horse the comics also teased the possibility of Indy settling down, as he was beginning to reach the age where it would soon no longer be possible to crack the whip like when he was younger. It’s a mature topic that, frankly, Black Horse Comics do a much better job of addressing than Crystal Skull Kingdom.

‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ breathed new life into the franchise

Without doubt, the most exciting episode of the IndianaJones the extended universe was the much underrated ABC adventure series The Chronicles of Young Indiana Jones. Produced by George Lucas and future star wars prequel producer Rick McCallum, the series showed both a young (Corey Carrier) and teenage Indy (Sean Patrick Flannery) as they travel the world and witness some of the major historical events of the early 20th century. It was sort of a tribute to the IndianaJones the franchise’s affinity for education; the series aired on the History Channel and helped introduce young viewers to significant events and icons from the era it covered.

The Chronicles of Young Indiana Jones may have only lasted three seasons, but it breathed new life into the franchise’s growing expanded universe. Random House published a Young Indiana Jones series for young readers that filled in the gaps of Indy’s childhood during the period between Carrier’s portrayal and Flannery’s version. Having a young and feisty Indy was another way to get young fans excited about the character; for a certain generation, it was the version of the character presented to them before they saw the Harrison Ford films of their parents’ generation.

What future for the “Indiana Jones” universe?

Undoubtedly, the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate will spark more interest in the franchise and will likely prompt Disney to produce several spin-off projects. There would already be a Disney series in preparation. Given the success that star wars had with the multimedia project The High Republicthe possibility that we see new IndianaJones upcoming games, comics, and books seem very high.

The American Film Institute named Indiana Jones the second greatest movie hero of all time. Contrary to popular belief, it is not exclusively owned by Spielberg, Ford, Lucas and Laurent Kasdan. actors like Phoenix River, Carrier, and Flannery have equally interesting interpretations, and the various television, novel, and comic book writers who have explored Indy’s adventures are equally significant. While you count the months before you hear John Williams‘ fanfare on the big screen, consider watching other IndianaJones adventures you may have missed.
