The housing needs of the new generation are no longer met by simply renting an apartment or studio. Keen on novelties and innovations, young workers now want homes based on a service approach. The search for a different experience takes precedence over the simple need for accommodation, a requirement that has contributed to the birth of “coliving”.

Sharing living space, between colleagues or roommates, in the office or at home, is a common practice that has made it possible to imagine new concepts in recent years. Coworking spaces, favored by more and more nomadic workers, are particularly inspired by it. Taken up in the field of housing, this same successful model leads to the emergence of a new type of special housing: co-living. A true way of life, this innovative concept is used by companies to secure new talents. Decryption.

The dazzling development of colocation 2.0

Co-living is for housing what coworking spaces and open spaces are for work. This is a new housing system based on a community approach, offering residents a range of included services. While simple shared accommodation is limited to sharing the kitchen and a common room, coliving goes further by including a gym, a restaurant and coworking spaces in the lot. The model, which appeared in France three years ago, adapts the hotel system to the real estate rental sector. Coliving thus offers, at a lower monthly price than traditional small apartments, optimized accommodation for demanding residents, coupled with attractive services.

A community concept appreciated by young working people

Community life in co-living spaces is a concept tailor-made for young working people. In the space of a few years, the offers have rapidly multiplied, providing young start-ups with spaces combining accommodation, work and entertainment. At a time when workers feel more and more isolated, a phenomenon reinforced by consecutive periods of confinement, co-living appears to be a practical, flexible and more affordable alternative to conventional housing. This new concept of shared accommodation solves this problem of loneliness by emphasizing quality community life between people with similar profiles (young entrepreneurs, athletes).

A new way to attract new recruits

The meteoric rise of this new housing model adapted to young professionals quickly caught the attention of companies in search of innovation. Aware of the challenge of finding accommodation for current young workers, some companies offer to install their future recruits in co-living spaces. It must be said that this offer is a strong argument for securing talent in business. Like the Google campus, the proven success of some Silicon Valley companies with their own coliving residences dedicated to employees, attests to the effectiveness of this new recruitment lever.

Daniel Psenny, 64, had lived for forty-five years in Passage Saint-Pierre-Amelot, on the second floor of a building overlooking the emergency exits of the Bataclan. On November 13, 2015, he was writing an article for The world, his employer from 1997 to 2018, when the first Kalashnikov shots rang out.

In a press release published on Wednesday, October 20, the Defender of Rights expressed her concern about the possibility of extending the exit regime from the state of health emergency until July 31, 2022, “without any new parliamentary vote being expected for such a long period”. It also recommends the need to recall the prohibition on requesting an identity document in addition to the presentation of a health pass, considering that “the practices appearing to be variable despite the explicit decision of the Constitutional Council”.

While recognizing the importance of vaccination in the fight against the pandemic, the Defender of Rights also expressed concern about the choice of the executive to institute by decree the delisting of Covid-19 screening tests. “This decision profoundly changes the balance on which the device provided for by law was based and could be compared to a disguised vaccination obligation”, she denounced.

In the opinion of the Defender of Rights, this provision “will particularly affect the most vulnerable” and present “a discriminatory risk”. According to her, the need for a medical prescription to benefit from financial support for the screening test will “increase the pressure on the health system” and “slow down access to goods and services, such as scheduled medical procedures at the hospital, a visit to a loved one in a nursing home or going to an establishment open to the public”.

Canceled last year, the Lan’Divy esports event made its return in 2021. Organized by the Survivebox association, it took place on Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17, at the multipurpose hall of Landivy. More than twenty players competed in video game tournaments.

About twenty players present

“25 players came to compete in the Fortnite, Minecraft, Trackmania, Rocket-League, Empires Apart and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments”, declares the president of the organizing association , Lilian Bazille. If the number of participants decreased between the 2nd and the 3rd edition, the reason is simple.

The health crisis has left its mark on the participation of players in this event. We have gone from more than 50 players in 2019 to 25 in 2021. However, we are happy to have organized the Lan’Divy. This should return to normal in 2022. We have no doubts about that.

A popular visitor area

Present since the 2nd edition, the visitor area has been appreciated by visitors. The association had provided them with modern and retro game consoles such as a game cube, as well as self-service computers.

They were able to try different titles more or less known like Rocket League, Civilization, Mario Bros, Guitar Hero or Mortal Kombat. Each of the stations has been accompanied by an information sheet that will tell the story of the console or game you are playing.

Two Lan’Divy per year in the future

“In the future, we want to increase the number of events organized by our association. In particular, we want to organize Two Lan'Divy per year, ”says Lilian Bazille (left).

“In the future, we want to increase the number of events organized by our association. In particular, we want to organize two Lan’Divy per year, ”says Lilian Bazille.

In addition to the Lan’Divy, we would like to organize tournaments in Mayenne in the years to come. In future editions, we also want to develop relationships with video game stores so that visitors can discover more retro consoles.

“The next edition will take place in Spring 2022,” announces Lilian Bazille.

We realize this more and more as we age. Not a day goes by that existence reminds us of how precious life is. The disease does not distinguish. It hits everywhere and hits anyone in its path.

The news broke yesterday afternoon in the case of Mike Bossy. He has lung cancer.

Like Guy Lafleur.

We all know someone who has fought or is fighting cancer now.

It could be other illnesses or other things like accidents.

For the past twenty months, COVID-19 has been wreaking havoc in Quebec and around the planet.

Life is fragile.

Always the same

My thoughts are with Mike, a model man if there is one whom I met for the first time in his junior debut with the National de Laval.

At 17, he was already coping well with his celebrity and he has never changed.

It was always the same Mike I saw again when he filled the net and stacked the Stanley Cups with the New York Islanders.

Positive vibes

I sympathize with his wife Lucie and his daughters Josiane and Tanya. My thoughts are with them and I send them positive waves.

Grueling weeks and months lie ahead, but Bossy isn’t the knee-to-knee type.

He will be like all the people who have to face cancer. They discover in themselves unsuspected strengths. They are inspiring.

Bossy will fight with the same determination as Lafleur and our other stars who have been there in recent years.

Clappers

Let us think of Guy Lapointe, Yvon Lambert and Peter Mahovlich who contributed to the four consecutive Stanley Cup victories between 1976 and 1979.

There was no question for them to give up. Certainly, they experienced moments of discouragement, but it never lasted very long.

The strength to live was stronger than anything.

Lafleur hangs on even though he knows that the cancer he suffers from is incurable. He still finds a way to please his millions of fans.

Bossy is made of the same wood. A Stanley Cup champion never gives up. It draws from the depths of its resources.

Come back to us soon, Mike!

Whether you are a simple extra or the main actor, this book is vital. After these two bestsellers “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Abraham Lincoln: Hunter of Vampires”, both brought to the big screen, Seth Grahame-Smith publishes a guide dedicated to reckless moviegoers entitled “Like surviving in a movie from horror? ” (ed. Ynnis). Over the pages, the famous writer and screenwriter returns to the most frightening situations of your favorite films, and gives, not without humor, many tips to increase your chances of seeing the sun rise. In particular, we learn how to know if we are in a horror film, stay awake for a whole week, succeed in an exorcism, or even annihilate disreputable characters. Among them, a zombie, a vampire, a killer doll, and the most dangerous of all, Satan.

In this Halloween season, there’s nothing like delving into the scenes from the films that terrified us the most, from James Whale’s Frankenstein (1931), to Ishirō Honda’s Godzilla (1954), including “Massacre Chainsaw ”(1974) by Tobe Hooper and Paranormal Activity (2007) by Oren Peli. Rich with more than 200 photos, “Rendez-vous avec la Fear” (ed. Epa), offers a veritable panorama of horror. In total, the authors, Olivier Bousquet and Olivier Bonnard, sift through some twenty films. They portray their authors, analyze the characters, and place feature films in the context of their time. What does “Get Out”, directed by Jordan Peele, tell us about the condition of African Americans? Is Carrie a feminist heroine? These are all questions answered by this beautiful object with pop accents.

“Rendezvous with fear”, Olivier Bousquet and Olivier Bonnard, ed. Epa, to be released October 27.

In this last fall before the presidential election, the books of political leaders, and more particularly of members of the government, are sprouting like mushrooms: Jean-Michel Blanquer, Marlène Schiappa, Sarah El-Haïry, Emmanuelle Wargon, Elisabeth Moreno, Agnès Pannier -Runacher … all of them, with different styles, have found it useful to take up the pen this fall. But only one can boast of having its preface signed by the hand of the President of the Republic and allowing itself to indicate it in bold, clearly visible, on its cover …

Olivia Grégoire, who publishes this Thursday, October 21 And after ? For a citizen capitalism (ed. Impact, Le Cherche midi), is the lucky one of the lot. The Secretary of State for the Social, Solidarity and Responsible Economy defends in her work, documented, structured, full of references, a vision that could not be more macronist of capitalism, finance, business. “The company? For some, imbued with the Marxist heritage, it has long been if not an enemy, at least a constraint that must be supervised, controlled, taxed. For others, on the contrary, its contribution to the life of the country was such in terms of economy and employment that it had to be freed from any constraint and burden. During the 2017 presidential campaign, I wanted on the contrary to take another path, “writes the Head of State in its preamble.

A path pursued by Olivia Grégoire, president of the special commission of the PACTE law (action plan for the growth and transformation of companies) in 2019, which calls for “to have both eyes open, not just that of the symbol, of morality, but also that of efficiency “:” This preface, the president did not write for personal reasons but because it is a true essay on economic policy, not a novel of fiction or of a biography which would tell how Bibi arrived at Bercy, explains the elected Parisian. It is because the responsibility of the economic and political world is a subject which he knows well, that I carried it for him in France, in Europe and in the world, which he accepted. ”

Limited offer. 2 months for 1 € without commitment

This balance, this “at the same time”, Olivia Grégoire, who began to militate with the liberal Alain Madelin, claims it fully. She does not have enough harsh words to describe the politicians who “perorate on all the TV shows without ever going into the details where the devil is hiding”, says to herself “sawn” – in her mouth, to put it mildly. – by those who in the National Assembly “multiply the interventions in which suspicions against companies are permanent”. On the one hand, it does not deny that “capitalism as it is practiced today is doomed to an impasse: the race for yield is a race towards a precipice”; on the other hand, she observes “that he is too rarely congratulated for all his successes”: “To whom can we attribute the incredible progress of science, education and health during the last century? of the fantastic growth of countries and entire populations who have been able to get out of poverty? ”she writes.

Like the Head of State – who advocates in his introduction a “reconciliation between society and business” to put an end to “this bottom of pessimism and mistrust which feeds worried France” – Olivia Grégoire, in good tocquevillienne, places at the heart of her work the articulation between personal entrepreneurial adventures and the common good. This goes through a fair state intervention in the economy, which she says she has sought to determine through her experiences as an employee, business manager, deputy then minister during the health crisis.

“The role of the State has been revised: we have gone from a State very close to a form of budgetary austerity to a State which had to rearm itself to give companies the means to weather the health and economic crisis, “she tells L’Express.” I had a front row seat, I contributed to it: I saw political voluntarism apply to the economy and the economy bend to the will of the political. ” Not “decision maker”, but “pivot”, the role of the State “is to build the rails, not the locomotives”, she judges.

It is also up to companies to assume their responsibilities, in a society which always asks them more in terms of ethics, of the balance between the values displayed and the work carried out. Olivia Grégoire makes the empowerment of economic players, and in particular companies, a major focus of her essay, which, according to her, involves greater transparency. Here again, there is no too much radicalism: yes to transparency as a “means of restoring confidence to citizens”, no to that which can become “a bottomless pit” and “create permanent suspicion and amplify mistrust”. In terms of recognizing the role of the company in the smooth running of society, Emmanuel Macron speaks, in the preface, of a “cultural struggle” to be carried out. He undoubtedly found in Olivia Grégoire a fierce fighter.

The balance sheet continues to increase. At least 116 people have died in India and Nepal, swept away by floods and landslides triggered by days of heavy rains, authorities said Wednesday (October 20th). Dozens of other people are missing.

As India deplores at least 85 victims, meteorological services broadened their alert on Tuesday, forecasting rains « strong » To “Very strong” during the next two days. In places, more than 400 mm of water have already fallen on Monday. In Uttarakhand (north), at least 46 people have died in recent days and eleven are missing. About thirty of them were killed Tuesday, in the particularly affected district of Nainital, in a series of landslides and collapses of infrastructure caused by a gigantic flood. Five members of the same family were notably buried in their house, said a local official, Prateek Jain.

Due to weather warnings, authorities have ordered schools to be closed and banned all religious or tourist activity in the state. In Kerala (south), the head of government, Pinarayi Vijayan, has put forward a local death toll of 39.

In Nepal, the toll “may increase further”

Rescuers evacuate residents in northern India's Uttarakhand state on October 19, 2021.

Images broadcast by television channels and circulating on social networks show residents making their way through the water that reaches their knees near the tourist site of Lake Nainital, and the Ganges river which overflows into the town of Rishikesh. More than a hundred tourists have been stranded in Ramgarh, the flooding Kosi River flooding several localities.

In neighboring Nepal, government disaster management officer Humkala Pandey said“In the last three days floods and landslides caused by heavy post-monsoon rains have killed 31 people across the country.” “Forty-three people are missing”, she added. “It is still raining in many places”, she then clarified, fearing that “The number of deaths [puisse] further increase “.

Landslides regularly hit the northern Himalayas of India, but their numbers are increasing, experts say, due to global warming, melting glaciers, construction of hydroelectric dams and deforestation. In February, a flash flood devastated the Rishi Ganga valley in Uttarakhand, killing some two hundred people. About sixty bodies were found.

According to the weather forecast, heavy rains are also expected to hit the southern Indian state of Kerala in the coming days, where flooding has already claimed more than 27 lives since Friday. Many dams in this tourist state were close to the alert level, rivers overflowed, and authorities evacuated thousands of people.
