The Western tarsier Cephalopachus bancanus is a small, nocturnal, primitive primate found in the dense forests of Borneo. Tarsiers inhabit a number of islands in Southeast Asia. The tarsier gets its name from the unusually long ankle or tarsal bone that it possesses. This skeletal modification enables it to jump distances more than 40 times its own body length.
